PACE Board
Because there are no paid staff positions, Board members function as a collaborative group absorbing both board and staff responsibilities. The standard term for a board member is 3 years and members can opt out or renew their term. Executive leadership positions (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) are held by experienced veteran members. We still have a few board members who were present in the days of the UDAT (Urban Design Assistance Team) commission. Some of those board members have assumed executive positions multiple times. However, leadership is not confined by those positions. Because multiple projects are undertaken simultaneously, individuals with particular expertise head those task force committees.
Members are recruited not only for their energy and expertise but also to represent other stakeholders’ points of view. Current board members represent the following stakeholders: Parks and Recreation, Chamber of Commerce, Commercial & residential real estate development, Professional and legal services, Creative agency, Government, Lions Club, Community Foundations, Local Food Council, Bike Culture Advocacy, Uptown Business, Beautification, Rotary, and Tourism.
Diverse stakeholder representation sustains robust networks within Thomasville and feeds the rich culture of collaboration from which The PACE Group was born. PACE has maintained this spirit of determination and engagement for almost 25 years.
